Edo State, Nigeria – The Edo State Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism has pledged its full support to Asein Angel Osariemen as she prepares to attempt the Guinness World Record for the longest read aloud marathon, aiming to read continuously for an astonishing 200 hours. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Iryn Omorogiuwa Esq., recently met with the team members of Angel Riemen (Asein Angel Osariemen) to assess their level of preparedness for the upcoming Read-A-Thon event.

The Read-A-Thon is scheduled to take place at the Library Complex, located at the Edo State Secretariat Building on Sapele Road, from the 23rd of February to the 3rd of March, 2024. The Ministry’s involvement in this event is driven by the fact that Asein Angel Osariemen hails from Edo State, making it an opportunity to promote Edo culture, arts, and tourism.

During the meeting, the Permanent Secretary expressed the Ministry’s keen interest in supporting Asein Angel Osariemen’s record-breaking attempt. The Director of Edo State Arts Council, Mrs. Blessing Iyekekpolor, the Director of Partnership & Liason, Mrs. Esther Eguavoen, and Mr. Ehis, the functioning Director of Culture of the Ministry, were also present at the meeting.

Team Angel Riemen provided a progress report on the entire project, highlighting the areas where assistance was needed. The Ministry was assured that a detailed work plan would be submitted within a few days, outlining the logistics and strategies for the Read-A-Thon.
