In a bid to find lasting solution to the insecurity in the state through dialogue amongst Governorship candidates, Governor Hope Uzodinma has shuned a Peace Accord to unravel the menace.

An event organized by the Owerri Catholic Archdiocese at Assumpta Cathedral, candidates of Labour Parties, Athan Achonu, Action Alliance (AA), Lincoln Ogunewe, All Progressives Congress (APGA), Tony Ejiogu, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu and Accord, Hon Ikenga JohnJude Okere, amongst others were in attendance.

However, political pundits are of the view that for Governor Uzodinma to have dodged the event after being accused of secretly fueling crisis in the state as a strategy to siphon huge sum from the federal government gives a positive direction that he is a major beneficiary of the crime and why he shuned the Peace Accord.

It can be recalled that few months ago, a former Governor of Imo state, Chief Rochas Okorocha offered to assist the state government to curb the insecurity, but instead of the government of Hope Uzodinma to accept the free offer from an experienced ex Chief Security Officer of the state, he instead directed his supporters to unleash mayhem on him.

Meanwhile, in an interview with organizers of the event, it was revealed that the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Prof Silvia Agu was duly informed and invited to the peace accord, regretting that all efforts to ensure she attended the programme failed as she boycotted the exercise. Information obtained has it that the INEC REC stayed back from the event after receiving directive from Governor Uzodinma to ignore the invitation.

This is at the heels of rising insecurity in the state where over 2000 innocent citizens have lost their lives, with properties worth over 1 billion razed within three and half years Uzodinma came on board.

Previously, Uzodinma had accused Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Emeka Ihedioha, Gerald Irona, Rochas Okorocha, Uche Nwosu, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere and recently, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu of sponsoring insecurity in the state.

Political Analysts are wondering why a sitting Governor of Imo state that is ravaged with insecurity decided to shun a Peace Accord involving all Governorship candidates, expressing annoyance that the Governor may be aware of the root cause of the crisis in Imo state hence, tactically stayed off to avoid entertaining questions from Imo people.
