With barely a year that the entertainment industry lost the gem, Sir Victor Uwaifo, another popular highlife musician, Osayomore Joseph, has left the world stage for beyond. Known for his satirical and philosophical lyrics, the Ulele Power Sound exponent began his musical journey with the Nigerian Army and later opted for his own band in the 70’s, releasing multiple hit songs through the 80’s and 90’s.
His songs were social political commentaries, standing him out among his peers as a socio-political activist at a time. “Gidda Na Wa” was a popular allusion to Babangida and his high-handed government. Of course his song on such bad governance catapulted him to national and then, international recognitions.
Osayomore Joseph once suffered incarceration in the hands of Sani Abacha. And more recently in 2018, he was kidnabed for thirty days on, what some believed to be, political ground.
With over a hundred albums to his credit, Osayomore Joseph and the Ulele Power Sound will forever be remembered.
Adieu!
